Microneedling and RF Microneedling
The DermalPen treatment is a highly advanced MICRO NEEDLING technique.
Microneedling:
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment creates micro-punctures in the skin using 12 sterilized needles.
Microneedling will rejuvenate and plump the skin with minimal discomfort and little downtime.
Benefits of microneedling includes:
- Improves the appearance of scars, including acne scars
- Reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Shrinks enlarged pores
- Improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots
- Smooth uneven skin tone and texture
- Improves skin elasticity
- Reduces the appearance of stretch marks
WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME FOR A MICRONEEDLE TREATMENT?
The downtime of a microneedle treatment is around 3 to 5 days. Your skin will be red and swollen the day of the treatment, the next day it will be slightly pink and less inflamed and by the third or fifth day your skin will look normal but it will feel tight and a little dry.
HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?
Microneedling causes microscopic puncture wounds in the skin in order to trigger your body to begin the healing process. During this healing process, the skin regenerates, producing the proteins collagen and elastin. You might know those proteins as important factors in keeping the skin smooth and youthful-looking. These micro-punctures also create paths for the serums and active ingredients used during the treatment to penetrate the upper layers of the skin more efficiently.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR MICRONEEDLING LIKE?
The first step for microneedling will be a consultation with our medical aesthetician, who will go over any questions that you may have about your skin and your treatment plan. If microneedling is the right treatment for you, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the area before treatment. After you have numbed, your aesthetician will perform the procedure, using the serums and active ingredients suited to your skin concerns. After your procedure, you will need to avoid direct sun exposure and only use gentle products on your skin during the recovery period.
