Photofacial & Skin Rejuvenation

What is a photofacial?

Our photofacials are performed using Palomar’s patented RejuveLux™ Process. Photofacials are treatments that target the face, neck and chest to remove sun damaged and aged areas, facial vessels, as well as smooth fine lines and overall skin texture. Photofacials aid to stimulate the collagen production, resulting in a fresher, healthier, more youthful look. Photofacials can also be performed on the hands, legs, arms and shoulders, or anywhere that brown spots and sun damage are prevalent. Photofacials can leave a patient’s skin looking more youthful and vibrant.

How is a photofacial performed?

Photofacials are performed with a series of gentle pulsed light treatments. The intense light is emitted in a series of pulses over the target area.

Is there any down time for the patient?

This unique, non-invasive treatment can improve the appearance of skin, while requiring little to no down time for the patient. There may initially be some redness and darkening of spots, which should fade in a short time.

What can be treated with a photofacial?

  • Rosacea, flushing and facial vessels
  • Mild acne scarring and large pores
  • Dark circles around eyes
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Age Spots
  • Freckles
  • Irregularities in skin texture
  • Fine lines on the face

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients are completely happy with the results they have after getting just one pulsed light treatment. In order to achieve optimum results, we recommend at least 3 treatments.

Are there any side effects?

Most people experience some mild temporary redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn in the treated area shortly after treatment This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness may last longer, but will be mild and temporary.

Who is a candidate for the RejuveLux process?

During a consultation, we will perform a thorough history and skin analysis to determine one’s candidacy. We treat men and women of all ages with excellent success. Darker skinned individuals may be excluded from this procedure.

Can I wear makeup following a photofacial?

Absolutely! With this process, makeup and skincare products can be used within hours following the procedure.

Is there anything I should avoid if I am thinking about getting the RejuveLux procedure done?

Yes. You should avoid the sun for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure. If you must go out in the sun, it is recommended that you wear an SPF 30 or greater. Discontinue the use of Retin-A or any retinoid based product for at least 1 week prior to procedure. Other individual instructions will be given to you during your consultation.
